Sunset Shores Lodge Keepers Chan and Trieu Ngo
We have been blessed with one of the most beautiful locations on the eastern shores of Lake Superior on beautiful Batchawana Bay. We are located at the mouth of the Batchawana River on Highway 17 north, 68 kilometers north of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Open from May 1 until late October.
History
Originally built in the 1930's, Sunset Shores was a thriving fishing lodge which soon became a popular family vacation spot nestled among stately pine and maple forests. Imagine the Ojibwe people who inhabited these shores. Here they had their summer gardens, maple syrup and hunted here among our trees. On Batchawana island the voyageurs pulled up their canoes to the trading post which faces our resort. Read the history of this area on our tables in the rec. hall & in our booklet.
We take pride in the fact that we have retained that old fashioned sense of nostalgia
but with all of the modern conveniences of home.
